In this guide I am going to walk you through what to wear to a couples session or an engagement photoshoot.
There are so many factors that go into every single photoshoot that can dictate the way the photos look.
external factors-
Landscape
Angles
Lighting/ Sun Placement
personal factors-
outfit-- fabric, textures, colors
hair color and style
jewelry and accessories
All of these things I think can be a fun way to play with how the photos come out! With this being said, here are my recommendations for outfit styling for photos.
Color Scheme
I think having a general color scheme together and being cohesive will certainly help your photos look very natural. I always recommend to couples to wear something you feel comfortable in. If you are unsure about your outfit then I recommend having someone take a photo of you in the outfit with their phone and seeing if you like the way it looks! This is an easy way to tell if you will like it in photos. Find colors that you think look good with your skin tone and colouring! This is going to make you feel good and the clothes will flatter you so well. I recommend looser fitting pants on adventure sessions because if we are hiking or doing something active, it may be uncomfortable to wear tight pants.
Red and patterns are usually something I recommend you staying away from for a couples session. This isn't a rule or something that is always true, so don't cross that off the list completely!
I also think getting your nails done for the photos can add such a nice extra design element!
Ultimately, these photos are for you, so I want you to feel comfortable and natural in them. So wear what makes you feel like you and I will do the rest!
